Doctoral research: applying the TE-SER model in cities of fewer than 150,000 inhabitants to assess how well it works in smaller innovation ecosystems.

Description
This research is part of ITBA's PhD in Systemic Innovation Management and builds on the master's thesis on Tandil. The TE-SER model, from Global Ecosystem Dynamics, analyses ecosystems through the roles of their actors and their collaboration networks, and has mostly been applied in large cities in Argentina, the rest of Latin America, Spain and Portugal. Tandil, with fewer than 150,000 inhabitants, was one of the smallest ecosystems studied with this methodology. The PhD will apply the model in cities of fewer than 150,000 inhabitants to assess how well it works in smaller settings.
Problem or opportunity
Does the TE-SER model, validated mostly in large ecosystems, describe the innovation ecosystems of smaller cities just as well?
Objectives
- Apply the TE-SER model in cities of fewer than 150,000 inhabitants.
- Assess how well the model works in smaller innovation ecosystems.
- Compare the results with Tandil and with the large ecosystems already studied.
